Tennis – Alexandra Eala falls short of Jingshan Open final in three-setter

Alexandra Eala lost the lead and the match as the top seed went out in the Jingshan Open 2025 semi-finals on Saturday (27 September).

The Filipina was eliminated at the hands of Lulu Sun, the third seed from New Zealand, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the People’s Republic of China.

The second set was there for either’s taking, even at 4-4, which Sun did by winning the last two games of the frame.

Sun was comfortably in front throughout the third with Eala able to only manage a couple of consolation games before the Kiwi ended the match after 2 hours, 13 minutes.

The 58th-ranked Eala had been eyeing her second career title.
