A Filipino doctor was injured after being assaulted and pushed onto the subway tracks in Manhattan, New York City, the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed.

According to authorities, the incident happened on August 9 while the 44-year-old doctor was waiting for a train on his way home from duty.
CCTV footage released by the NYPD shows the suspect who allegedly punched and shoved the victim onto the railway tracks.
Police said the victim had been standing at the platform when the suspect suddenly attacked him.

“Pauwi na mula sa duty ang biktima, at naghihintay ng masasakyang tren nang atakihin siya ng suspek,” the report noted.
Fortunately, no train was approaching at the time of the assault. Witnesses immediately rushed to the doctor’s aid, helping him climb back onto the platform to safety.
The suspect, however, quickly fled the scene.
The victim sustained injuries to his head and legs and was later treated. Although he declined to give interviews, officials confirmed that he is already in stable condition.
The Philippine Consulate in New York has also reached out to provide him with support and assistance.
Meanwhile, the NYPD is actively searching for the suspect. They are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the attacker’s capture.
“Patuloy na tinutugis ng mga awtoridad ang suspek, at humingi ng tulong ang NYPD police sa sino mang makapagbibigay ng impormasyon para madakip ang lalaki,” the statement added.
