40 cybercrime suspects arrested in weeklong operations

MANILA – The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 40 individuals for various violations of the cybercrime law on Aug. 22 to 28.

The ACG report posted Sunday showed that of those arrested, 34 were caught in entrapment operations while six were wanted persons tracked down in separate anti-cybercrime efforts.

The PNP-ACG secured convictions for eight suspects.

The weeklong operations likewise resulted in the service of 12 cyber warrants and the filing of 51 cases.

Throughout the week, PNP-ACG conducted 288 cyber patrols and 16 digital forensic examinations. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan /PNA)
