MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday said 262 individuals were arrested in a 24-hour anti-crime operation across Metro Manila.
In a statement, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the operation took place from 6 a.m. on Tuesday to 5:59 a.m. on Wednesday.
Of the total arrests, 46 were for illegal drugs, 72 for illegal gambling, nine for loose firearms, and 62 for “other violations,” according to the NCRPO.
The total number also included the arrest of 73 individuals on the wanted persons list.
The Manila Police District recorded the highest number of arrests with 65, followed by the Northern Police District with 52, Quezon City Police District with 51, Southern Police District with 48, and Eastern Police District with 46.
Aberin said these achievements are not mere statistics but proof of NCRPO’s relentless drive to keep Metro Manila safe.
“Ang bawat operasyon na isinagawa ng NCRPO ay malinaw na mensahe na walang puwang ang kriminalidad dito sa Metro Manila (With every operation, the NCRPO is sending a strong message that criminality has no place in Metro Manila),” he said.
Aberin said the operation was in response to the order of Philippine National Police acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to make communities safer for the public. (PNA)
