1st One shines at ASEAN-Korea fest with culture-rich set

Filipino pop group 1st One drew significant attention during the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend, with a performance that highlighted both their musical style and cultural roots.

Performing on the festival’s opening day, the group — composed of members Ace, Alpha, Max, J, Joker, and Jayson — delivered a set that included remixed versions of their tracks “Shout Out” and “Paalam Na,” as well as “Alam Mo Ba,” “Wala Ng Iba,” and an unreleased song titled “MYV (Map Your Vibe).” The performance was characterized by coordinated choreography, stylized dance breaks, and musical elements influenced by Filipino folk traditions.

The festival, aimed at promoting cultural exchange through music across Southeast Asia and Korea, featured artists from various countries. According to organizers and audience accounts, 1st One’s appearance stood out among Day 1 performances, with strong responses from local and international attendees.

“MYV,” launched officially during the group’s performance, was introduced as the anthem for the 1734 Murillo Velarde Philippine map. The group has been designated as official partners for promoting the historical artifact.

During the event’s Q&A segment, Korean host Paul Kim noted 1st One member Ace’s fluency in Korean, which drew positive reactions from both the live audience and online viewers.

Attendees from across Southeast Asia expressed appreciation for the group’s ability to blend contemporary pop with cultural identity. A Malaysian fan said, “Their energy is contagious! I can’t help but dance along,” while a Thai audience member described the performance as “the highlight of the festival.”

Social media engagement surrounding the festival included videos and fan reactions featuring hashtags such as #1stOne, #ASEANKoreaMusicFest, and #1STONEatROUND2025. Online posts praised the group’s live performance and stage presence.

Festival organizers and music commentators noted that 1st One’s inclusion underscored a growing interest in P-Pop as part of the wider Asian music market and highlighted the potential for greater regional collaboration.

The ASEAN-Korea Music Festival continues this week with additional performances from artists across the region.
